The 9th Nordic Congress of Onomastics attracted 88 participants from 8 countries. The congress was organized by The Institute of Dialect- and Place-Name Research, Lund in collaboration with The Department of Scandinavian Languages of Lund University. The theme of the meeting, 'Name Semantics and Name Structure', ensured a lively discussion of the 26 papers read at the congress. On Tuesday, August 6th, there was a field excursion into the central parts of Scania. The General Meeting of NORNA (The Nordic Co-operation Commitee for Name Studies) was held on Wednesday, August 7th. At the invitation of Gillian Fellows-Jenssen the 10th Congress is to be held in Denmark in 1989.
